In the first game on Friday, against North Harbour Ryan and Mario scored the teams two goals but couldn't stop Harbour scoring 5 in return. The team's second win came out of the water when they took out the tournaments "best dressed" competition during the opening ceremony of the tournament.
The Marlborough Water Polo Club Under 12 Mixed team have concluded their trip to Auckland for the 2017 Olympic Hopefuls tournament, coming away in 6th place within grade B. Overall the team placed 14th out of 48 teams from around the country.
Saturday saw three games when the team came together with a convincing 18 - 0 win for the first game of the day. A tough next game against Atlantis resulted in a loss of 5 - 4 but the team bounced back against Mountfort Matau winning 7 -3.
The team faced another battle against Tauranga and fortunately came out firing, winning 8 - 1. The final game of the tournament saw Marlborough playing for 5th and 6th place against Marist. It was a tight game with Marist only up 2 - 0 at halftime, and Marlborough pulled one back with the final scoring being 2 - 1 to Marist.
Now that the tournament has come to a close the clubs attention turns to the Nippers Cup which kicks off on the 29th of September in Wellington where Marlborough will be represented by 3 teams, U14 Boys, U14 Girls and U12 Mixed.
